still thought the approach for last 14 minutes on defense was very good
guys guarded perimeter players with lateral footwork, forcing Poly into tough shot attempts off off drives inside the arc, even if Poly 'pushed off' a bit with some makes, it was solid defense, and going away from trying to double out top eliminated the chasing and recovering from having LT on top doubling and the entire team out of position that had resulted in numerous wide open 3s due to Poly's Kobe making great decisions passing to exppose the double-teaming.
to staff's credit they recognized that, and stopped, even though we still got into some mismatches with the high picks. but stopped the bleeding
Messiah is quick, he can defend. Tsohonis needs to constantly reinforce playing lateral defense, he can do it. Silva is a half step slow, he argued a call where he clearly held onto Kobe, lol. but even he can play tougher.
Amari has length, but bottom line, he is also somewhat lateral challenged, why he can pick up fouls in spades.
hopefully lesson learned on defense, good to see more of man to man solid defense. the 1-3-1 can work, but it's no secret and teams getting the ball in the middle can get open 3s if they can do that, plus it's hard to rebound. was noteworthy how much better we boarded playing much more man defense - but it only works when guys slide like LAX used to do like a textbook. They've got the best guy to teach that on the sideline. He needs to work with Amari a lot, will be tough, but Amari still has more potential to help more.
3 pt differential: Poly 39, Beach 6. wow
that is crazy
Poly 2 pt FG %: 37.5%, Beach 2 pt FG%: 53%
LT: 14-18 FTs. LT's season FT % now 73%, he has been $$$ last few games, good to see him making teams pay for jumping all over him.
Messiah: 6 assists, 1 TO. was major-leagued pissed at himself after that 1st jacked up 3 he threw up.
Murray travels with the team. Is he a grad assistant?
