why would they allow those two schools to get NCAA bids in NCAA sports without some major $$?
I think becasue of Portland & Gonzaga in the WCC, it makes sense to add value.
OSU and WSU are just biding time anyway to see if they can still make it to the Big 12 somehow.
if it was the Big West, I'd say sure, no auto-bid for basketball though, and pay the conference $2 mil + each year for each school to make it worthwhile
OSU baseball is interesting, they are a top 10 national program. That's one sport the Big West might want to make a deal with, especially if there are bye weeks for each school right now
To clarify, it's all sports except for football and baseball. It makes sense for OSU and WSU, who'll be in a 2 team PAC football conference, but not sure what the WCC gets out of it. The WCC will likely get a modest boost in RPI for most of those sports, but it also means current WCC teams may miss out on championship or NCAA tournament opportunities. I don't see OSU/WSU paying the WCC money for this arrangement like they are giving $$ to the MWC for the football scheduling arrangement. News articles seem to suggest this is a done deal, but I wonder if the voting will be unanimous. I don't think this would have been a good arrangement for the Big West, either...
