I noticed Tsohonis did some solid block outs, even if not always rewarded.
AJ & Silva - wow dudes, go find a body to put a body on. this is excrutiating. stop expecting LT & AT to get every rebound. CSUDH was going unobstructed to the boards. granted, it's not easy in a 1-3-1 but sheesh, BW teams are going pound us on off boards, with how bad fundamentally we are.
AT: AT was just looking to pass and block shots out of the PYamid
Silva: Had good passes. question is can he do the same vs. D1 pressure.
Tsohonis 3s. didn't hit one. took one galactically horrific 3 where he was almost shooting off of one foot. GET SET!
some bad decision making on 3s. Lewis is just too anxious. most of our problems from 3 are simply due to really bad shot selection, and n the case of Jones, flailing his legs and body about trying to draw fouls. I know it seems wonderful how Jones draws fouls, but he's not shooting a high % (he should be at 40%), and IMO it's because he concentrates on trying to draw fouls, jumps foward, whips his legs a bit. he got away with one last night. Jones is going to start getting called for some of that. ok, maybe not, these are not pro refs
the main things looking for.
rebounding, while ok, not dominant like last year.
the littles have to get more physical.
Messiah & AJ to hit 3s. Both were proven last year. AJ not taking many after almost 40% last year. Messiah had been taken a number of questionable / forced 3s. that would be one key improvement to the offense if they can hit 3s as their history showed.
AT. take a few more outside shots, really hoping he can get comfortable
Silva and Messiah focus on defense and stops, & avoided rushed bad passes. having to continue to get more comforaable as point guards in a more complimentary role with so much offense going thru AT & Tsohonis. Tough assignment especially for MEssiah who was so used to being the focal pt guard.
Tsohonis. always be set when taking a 3, for Tsohonis it's all about decisions making
hoping the dress rehearsal tonite is an emphasis on fundamentals in the half court sets.
