bottom line is they could keep it as a volunteer, only aspiring coaches like Molina are gonna seek out paid positions.
Effective July 1, the NCAA has re-designated the volunteer assistant position to assistant coach, which can be a paid position. It’s not entirely clear if the 3rd position must be paid if they’re on staff, or if they can remain unpaid, but I believe it is the former. It’s also possible that some programs will stick to only two positions because of funding constraints, but most of the Power 5 programs are funding the 3rd paid position.
as far as I recall, there are always only two paid assistants for both MVB & WVB
don't believe that has changed
Huus is the second assistant. Is Molina getting the third paid assistant position which should open up on July 1, 2023?
