As a supporter and follower of Long Beach State basketball even before "Tark," the article explains very well, why us "blue hairs" remember those days so fondly.
What I like most is that Dan understands the heritage and history of the program and uses it to his advantage in motivation and recruiting.
Dan understands, much more than his last two predecessors, how important it is to promote the program in the community and to win new friends a supporters by talking to them. Seth Greenberg was a master at that and also a dyed-in-the-wool self-promoter.
Best of all, he seems to genuinely believe in the school and the program and is not sitting with his eye on the next job opportunity.
