I think our program needs some higher expectations now. We have a solid coaching staff, some young studs, and an impressive schedule. Why not have some high expectations? Because we are afraid of a letdown? I'd rather the fan culture be geared towards some reasonably high expectations, but with patience and understanding when they don't quite materialize. I'm willing to give this regime a lot of patience because I see the talent pipeline bursting like never before (in my time as a fan since 1987) and I have confidence in the coaching.
That being said, in nonconference I doubt we will win any of those tough road games, I believe that goes far beyond reasonably high expectations. I'd be very happy with wins at Wisc. Green Bay and a home win vs. Utah St., and I expect road wins at Pepp and LMU and blowouts at home against Alaska Anch and Monterey. A win at the 76 Classic where we are the weakest team in the field (yes Portland is getting ranked better than us preseason) would be nice and is my guess for the greatest chance of a big time win.
