I still think bi-weekly is plenty ... having street sweeping on a weekly basis is just waste. If the revenue justifies the means, then double the fine (or triple it) for the bi-weekly street sweeping - voila, keep your revenue stream intact.

: Street sweeping brings up some interesting
: thoughts....first, nothing detracts from a
: neighborhood that streets and structures
: that are not well kept....having spent my
: entire life in East Long Beach I can tell
: you first hand that I have seen a
: significant drop in the cleanliness and
: pride in our neighborhoods in the past 5
: years....probably due in significant part to
: the increase in renters and the decrease in
: homeowners out here.....thus people are far
: less likely to police up their own streets
: than in the past due to the ownership vs.
: renter issue.....so I would not be in favor
: of going to twice monthly street
: sweeping.....second, the revenue generated
: from the street sweeping parking tickets
: more than pays for the costs associated with
: street sweeping and if you cut that revenue
: in half you just exacerbate the situation
: and I don't see an upside in that.....a far
: better way to save money would be to
: outsource the sweeping and the trash
: collection, but both of those aren't gonna
: happen with this city council!!! They'll
: let 16 yrs die in front of Wilson H.S.
: before they would take this route to fiscal
: prosperity!!

: If the city is in dire straights from a
: budget
: standpoint, is it really necessary to have
: street sweeping on a weekly basis? I
: understand the reasons behind street
: sweeping, etc., but when a street sweeper is
: often accompanied by 2-3 parking enforcement
: vehicles handing out tickets. Seems like a
: fuel and manpower being used on a weekly
: basis. Why not cut it back to bi-weekly or
: monthly?

: MY wife and I are both voting 'NO"

: Measure T would allow:

: Approval of Measure T would authorize the
