I think the "Davis thing" happened because most of these writers fill out their forms while on a short break or late at night after a couple of drinks. They don't take filling out these pre-season poll sheets very seriously. They don't bother to consider things like facts or how stupid their picks look in context. There is not enough forethought given to these things for any failure to choose a particular player to be a "snub." You are absolutely right.
