1) People (including those in many levels of college athletics) just have no idea how tough it is to compete in DI golf in the south/southwest. It was only about 15 years ago that Arizona won the National Championship. They are PAC 10, with access to Tour-level golf courses, extrememly well connected alums, etc. and they are currently ranked #102 in the country. It is just flat tough to compete out here, period!
2) It is early, and you should judge a team at the end of the year, not the beginning.
