You have to understand that, in many sports, most of the athletes are white and come from some privilege (or at least they think they do).
Let's face it, many college coaches would whore out their moms to get a top recruit. Telling a fib with a racist twist is merely par for the course for these coaches.
The sad aspect of all of this is that sports can be the ultimate "evener" in the sense that an athlete's color, national origin, economic status, etc. should have no bearing on whether the athlete can actually play the game. How dare a coach try to inject his/her racist tendencies into a sports recruiting pitch.
Finally, do you think that a truly great coach would try this sort of thing in recruiting? I could never see Joe Paterno, Bob Knight, or Bill Bowerman (the Jack Rose of Oregon) telling a recruit that LB is in the "hood."

: Here's the link right here. His single set to

:
: The recruiting tool is that LBSU is in the
: hood? HAHHA now thats funny. Where's USC at?
: In the hood, they even got the street called
: on the back side of USC where all the buses
: connect to, called the Hoe Stroll. There's
: more hood people at USC then LBSU any day.
: I'll put my paycheck on that.
:
: St john (Newark, NJ) Temple (Philly,PA)USC
: (Columbia,SC)etc... All 3 schoools are in
: the hoods and im sure there is plenty more
: universities like that.
:
: That recruiting tool is irrelevent. I think
: that tactic is made for sheltered and
: gulliable incoming students. I would think
: its common sense for a student to check it
: out themselves.
:
: Why you think coaches use this tool? Cause
: if they made it out to the Beach they would
: most likely sign with us. Alot of people in
: other states dream about living by the
: beach. After Florida,LSU,Coastal Carolina
: its basically us left.
:
: Long Beach is a beautiful and multi-cultural
: city and has alot of potential but rarely is
: tapped into for whatever reasons. Snoop or
: no Snoop we have to start somewhere.

: If you are referring to the Kroc Center you

: frankly not sure if anyone, in the know,

: Thats the most stupiest s*** i ever heard.
: You
: must dont keep up with the times. His days
: of gang banging is behind him. Lets see the
: last thing he did for Long Beach. Him and
: Willie McGinest just got approved for that
: new state of the art rec center, and this
: was the middle of this year. So your telling
: me he is a negative recruiting tool? Please.
: You dont know half of the things Snoop does.
: He gives back to the community all the time.
: He started it off with the football team
: that no one wanted to invest their time with
: the inner city kids. But he stepped up. Your
: post was 1992 ignorant as hell. Snoop Dogg
: loves Long Beach if Ludacris performed at
: the Beach why the hell Snoop couldnt. He's a
: real good sports fan and loyal too if we
: could get him. He would really put the beach
: on the map.

: Snoop is the # 1 negative recruiting tactic
: used against our coaches.
:
: Welcome to the LBC...
:
: It's true with OC and south bay recruits
: (FACT)
:
: It's true with out of state recruits (FACT)
:
: And it's true with int'l recruits (FACT)
:
: Have that from multiple recruits ....
:
: The last thing we need is any relationship
: with him, his reputation or the LBC status
: of west LB.
:
: It's killing up and just piles onto the
: State School recruiting against us.
:
: It you want him, go to Oakland.
:

: You're right. It's added motivation to
: approach him.
:

: You read the post wrong.....not saying he is

:
: Make him a LBS fan too.

: Dissagree. "Ask and you shall

: Remembering the Steve Martin fiasco. I would
: caution against asking Snoop to perform.
: Remember he has no ties to the University.
:
: What I would do is have Monson extend a
: personal invitation to Snoop to attend a
: practice. Then attend a Game of his choosing
: as a guest of Mens Basketball. Let him sit
: on the bence with the Players. Tell him he
: will be introduced to the crowd as a honored
: guest of LBSU Basketball.
:
: But do not ask him to perform or for a
: contribution. Let him come up with that
: idea.
