Artest was pretty much a model citizen with the Rockets. Phil kept Rodman in check so I don't doubt he can do the same with Artest. I might feel differently if the Lakers didn't win this year and Artest was coming in as the guy they need to get over the hump. Agree, it would be a little scary if Artest was dealing from any position of power. No disrespect to Ariza, but the Lakers minimal attemt to re-sign him speaks volumes as to how valuable they see him. Basketball wise I think the Lakers wanted an elite defensive guy so Kobe does not have to guard the best player from the other teams.

: I cringe to think about Artest's attitude when
: Phil doesn't like what he sees and he
: benches him for an extended period of time,
: as he has done in the past many times. You
: either play Phil's game or you don't play.
: Artest then becomes a cancer and gets traded
: for a player with lesser skills than Ariza.
: I don't think even Kobe can keep this guy in
: check.

: What an unexpected but pleasant move. I'm
: going to miss Ariza, but Artest will be a
: great fit for this system because of his
: ability to hit the 3 and play physical D. It
: figures Ariza was going to ask for a raise
: considering all the $ we threw at Vujacic
: and Walton.
:
: Re-sign LO and Brown and we're good to go.
: Now if only we could dump some of these
: horrid contracts that are currently on the
: team.
