I think Paul's comment is correct. Sometimes there are players so far above their competition, that a loss by them is rare. But the purses for the 2 thru 5 finishers are very high. The Goydos', Perry's, Kim's, Johnson's and Mallinger's can make a good living with 2 thru 5 finishes. Every now and then one of them makes a breakthrough.
With that prespective I'm very happy for Paul and John and the golf they are playing. I wish I could be there, but it will never happen.

: The only real big American name missing is
: Phil, and his wife is going thru cancer.
: Zach Johnson and Kenny Perry have played in
: the recent events that really had no big
: names, so I'd cut them some slack. The
: foreigners are all back home in Europe or
: where ever getting ready for the British.
:
: Paul once said "Tiger pays me a lot of
: money to beat me every week". I asked
: him to explain and he said Tiger is the
: best, since he beats the best every week. I
: think every Tour member knows how important
: Tiger is, and would play if he really asked,
: but the Tour needs the bigger names to be
: spread out.

: My comment is it's great to see Paul doing
: so
: well. Hope he can get to the British.
: Looks like he's got some good years left.
: Also looks like he could/would be an
: outstanding Golf Analyst if he wanted to get
: into the TV world.
:
: My question relates to Tiger and his
: affiliation with this weeks event. Is there
: some kind of "Tiger Envy" going
: on. The field in his event is void of a lot
: of the top players. From a schedule
: standpoint it sets up perfectly being 2
: weeks after the US Open and 2 weeks before
: the British. Knowing his impact has
: basically doubled all their incomes you
: think they would show up in mass. Where's
: the love?

: Right now, Paul is looking good for maybe
: qualifying for the British Open. There is a
: special exemption (the top 2 money winners
: on the PGA Tour from The Players to this
: week, that aren't otherwise eligible)
: qualify for the British. According to an
: article I read yesterday, Paul looks very
: good for that. Fingers crossed!

: Paul Goydos is #34 and John Mallinger is
: #41.
:
: Both are playing this week in the AT&T.
: Malliner tees off at around 4:10am PST and
: Goydos tees off at around 10:15am PST
: tomorrow.
